Jerusalem is both physically and spiritually in good hands. The walls have been built, the doors hanged (Physical) , and the singers and musicians are appointed (Spiritual). Once done, Nehemiah appoints his brother Hanani (who was the brother who came back from Jerusalem and told Nehemiah about the condition of the walls in Chapter 1), and another man named Hanahiah. We can see from these appointments Nehemiah is selecting men of great character: Hanani was one of the original people who had an interest in Jerusalem’s fate, and Hanahiah a man who fears God greatly (character and leading from example).
