Romans 4 Study Guide
Romans 1 dealt with the obvious sinner and their virulent opposition to the truth. Romans 2 dealt with the Moralist, the person who is essentially trying to do the right thing (by the law), yet calls out the sin of others. In Romans 3, we learned that both of these types of people are guilty for developing their own truth while avoiding the real truth. We also learned that we all face the same fate: Judgment by God. It is the same for the obvious sinner, the Moralist, even those who have never heard of Jesus. This shared fate is compounded because we don’t have anything to offer to God. There is nothing we have done in this earth in order to save ourselves by our works. This is the argument for Justification by Faith. Those who believe in Christ are justified by their faith, not by their works.
