In Kings 6:38 we learned that it took Solomon 7 years to build the temple of the Lord. It takes nearly double the time for him to complete his palace. This may seem lie a minor point, but it is very important to understand that Solomon took nearly twice as much time building a luxurious palace for himself than he did the temple of God! This is a subtle way the writer shows us that Solomon perhaps is being seduced by the great riches around him.
